7 Apps I Use For Instagram Stories

This is probably the most FAQ I get in my DM’s (along with “who does your hair?”) So today I thought I would spill the beans and let you in on all my super top secret Insta Story editing hacks…JK it is not a secret at all, it’s just a list of 7 apps that will simplify your life and make you look creative AF on the gram.

This is my go-to app for filters. People always ask me if I use any presets on my photos and I always find it difficult to answer because tbh I don’t really believe in “one size fits all” presets. Every photo is taken in different lighting and requires different edits. So, no I do not use presets. However, after I edit using Lightroom, I almost ALWAYS add some degree of the J5 filter from VSCO and a little bit of grain.

2. Unfold

THE APP of ALL INSTA STORY APPS. This is the app I use to make pretty little collages or make my photos look like polaroid’s. On the app you can also add text and other graphics.

3. StoryLuxe

Lately I’ve been loving this app! I bounce between this one and Unfold when it comes to creating collages for stories, but StoryLuxe collages look so profesh that these edits often make it onto the feed as well. I also love using StoryLuxe to create edits for new blog posts.

4. Over

I recently learned about this app from another blogger who was kind enough to share it with me! I had noticed that everyone was teasing to their “new posts” by putting a custom font over it (kinda like the one below) & I was SO confused. HOW WERE THEY DOING THIS?! So, I asked and found out it is done with the app Over. So, this is what you do… get the app, create a transparent background, add your text, save photo, then copy + paste the photo onto your story. SO SIMPLE…oh and if you had no idea you could copy + paste images from your camera roll onto a story, you’re not alone. I literally just learned this.

I use PicMonkey for a variety of reasons. I have a paid subscription which allows me to upload my own custom fonts, so sometimes I’ll create my own “NEW POST” graphic using my font, just to keep things on brand. I also use PicMonkey for a TON of other editing tools and graphics.

6. KiraKira+

This is the app that makes everything extra sparkly! Occasionally I’ll use it, to give my story a little shimmer.

7. 8mm

I mainly use this app to create IGTV videos but occasionally I’ll also use it to record stories. It gives videos that old school, vintage vibe. I recommend recording from the app directly. I have uploaded my own video in hopes of adding a filter, but it always ends up distorting the final product.

Now that I’ve shared my favorite Insta Story apps…Are there any other apps I’m missing out on?

Let me know in the comments below or DM me on Instagram.
