Hii! Welcome to my first official wedding post!
I promised I would take you guys along as we navigate through wedding planning + all the events leading up to the big day…so it seems right to share our engagement photos!
This was the craziest/ most spontaneous/ best experience EVER.
Literally not even a week after we got engaged Patty of P.S Photography reached out to congratulate us + asked if we would be willing to fly to New Mexico in the next 2 weeks for engagement photos.
I’ve known Patty for quite some time, as she was my sister’s wedding photographer as well. She is the kindest lady I’ve ever met + her photography skills are exceptional! So obviously I was thrilled and couldn’t say yes fast enough.
Although we did have some hesitations since we had JUST gotten back from Boston and I hadn’t even gotten my new work schedule yet….BUT we said yes anyway and booked our flights.
Luckily, God was on our side because once I did get my schedule, I was off that whole weekend! God Bless.
Our whole mini trip was such a fun experience. We landed in Albuquerque, where we rented a white convertible mustang (that was so fun!) and drove down old dirt roads all the way to Alamo Gordo (a 4 hour drive.)
Some memorable moments:
We stopped at SawMill Market in Albuquerque for lunch and had the best tacos!
We attempted to drive with the top down for about 15 minutes and quickly regretted our decision when my dried floral bouquet + hat almost flew out of the car…while driving on the highway!
We saw a tumble weed cross the road.
We got pulled over for speeding right as we turned onto the street of our hotel…We were only going about 15 over and got let off with a warning lol.
The beautiful dress I wore for the photos was borrowed from Patty’s friend and very gracious designer Renato Armijo. However, Patty packed it and took it with her. So when we met her at White Sands National park… I had to change in front of SEVERAL people under a make shift “tent” we made out of a bed sheet Danny and I stole from our hotel. LOL.
Lighting the sparklers in the photos took about 20 matches because the wind was INTENSE.
and that is because…the next day a snow storm came down. Which delayed are flight.
SO we had to stay at the shittiest hotel (there are no other words!) in Dallas for a night.
BUT IT WAS ALL WORTH IT BECAUSE I AM IN LOVE WITH OUR PHOTOS + IT WAS THE FUNNEST EXPERIENCE EVER.
Finally, here are our engagement photos.
…and here are some non engagement photos from the trip!
HUGE Thank you to Patty of P.S Photography for creating this magic. She really made the experience so fun + easy! We were in constant contact discussing vision boards, inspo and she even helped me find the perfect dress. Forever grateful for her, these photos + this crazy trip! If you’re looking for a photographer I highly recommend reaching out to her.
