I know I’m not the only one that’s been doing some seriously heavy online shopping during lockdown…
I don’t know what it is about this quarantine that just makes me want to shop! I guess it really is a form of therapy 🤷🏼♀️
But in all seriousness, I have (for the most part) kept a budget for online shopping and, as always, tried to invest in basics that can be worn repeatedly.
I find that building “capsule wardrobes” is really helpful when you’re on a budget. A capsule wardrobe is basically a set of essential pieces that can be mixed and styled together to achieve different looks. The key is to stick to items within the same color palette, that way you can mix it up easily.
For the wardrobe capsule I’ve created (which you can see in the collage below) I stuck to beiges, whites, blues, and blacks.
HERE ARE A FEW SUMMER STAPLES I WANT TO INCORPORATE INTO MY SUMMER CAPSULE WARDROBE:
- NEUTRAL TOPS: Basic camis, oversized tees, and bodysuits are essential pieces of any wardrobe. They can be styled in so many ways and transition smoothly from day to night looks. I also like to keep them short sleeved and a little cropped to keep me cool in this summer heat.
- BOTTOMS + DRESSES:Mom jeans, flow-y skirts, and silky pants. Denim is always a must. I think mom jeans are cool and give off major summer vibes. Flow-y skirts and silky pants are also a fun way to throw in a little feminine touch. Plus they can each be dressed down and dressed up accordingly ✨
- LIGHTWEIGHT OUTERWEAR: Cardigans, linen blazers, button downs. All so cute to elevate a simple outfit and make you look effortlessly stylish. Also, love to throw these over a bathing suit in the summer.
- SLIDES + ACCESSORIES: Baseball caps, neutral slides, and retro sunnies. I love a cute vintage looking baseball cap. I think it adds a little something to a casual look and it’s also a great way to hide that crazy beach hair! Neutral slides, I think it goes without saying, but these are obviously a must and can be easily paired with just about anything. Also love the sunnies I included. They’re so retro and the $11 chain is such a cute way to style them!
